Cameron Club programs relate to literature of the world, music, current and world events, and other lectures. Cummings resided in Alexandria from about 1894 until 1949. Daughter of Norris and Emma Ricketts Cummings of Philadelphia, she was active in community affairs, was a member and officer in the Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs, and, in 1894, founded the Cameron Club. Helen Norris Cummings established the Cameron Club, an Alexandria, Va., women's club, in 1894 and remained its president until at least 1930. The club's stated objective was "the advancement of its members in literature, art, science, and the current interests of the day."
